GABLE/DORMER INSULATION & SIDING INSTALLATION

Install 1/2-inch insulation board to the exterior sides of stud walls in the gables and dormers using plastic-top cap nails or shingle nails.  Log siding is to be installed on the exterior side of the insulation board.  Be certain that flashing is properly installed where dormer stud walls join the house roof to prevent leaking.  Cut the siding ends according to the roof pitches joining the siding.  Be sure to use galvanized nails to prevent rust streaking.  Caulking may be used to seal cracks where siding joins the roof overhangs.

If you have not already constructed the gable end studwalls, see the previous section Premier Roof Installation for a discussion of wall placement.
